One-O-One Presbyterian Church has a long and proud history of providing outreach and support to our communities. We have included a partial list of our successful community programs.
Some of our most successful programs include:
- "Small red "flood buckets" - When the Arkansas, Black and White Rivers flooded a lot of our neighbors near Bayou des Arc, we filled small red buckets with dollars to be used to
buy big red flood buckets and fill them with cleaning supplies and personal care supplies. The buckets were assembled by Presbyterian volunteers at our Ferncliff Camp & Conference Center near
Little Rock. The big red buckets were then distributed by Presbyterian Disaster Assistance volunteers in the flooded areas.
- Heifer International - What began as an idea for the relief of hunger during the Spanish Civil War (1934) has become a phenomenal program to lift entire communities out of
endless cycles of hunger and poverty. Heifer Projects provide animals for breeding and provides care and feeding education for their new owners. The animals provide food, fiber and money for the
recipients, who must then provide a breeding pair to another family and teach them what they know about caring for the animals and using their newfound prosperity. A pair of sheep or goats or as few
as four rabbits or chickens soon become a major source of income and pride. The entire village may be lifted out of poverty in less than 10 years! Every continent feels the Heifer touch and we
support Heifer with our gifts each year.
- Goodland Academy - Located near Hugo, Oklahoma, The Academy has provided a quality Christian education to young men for over 160 years. It began as a mission school for native
Americans. Despite the challenges of time and the changing missions emphasis of churches, amid depressions and loss of support, this work of God's hand has not ceased! We support one young man with
uniforms and books each year. We collect Campbells Soup labels to be sent to the Academy. And, we pray for the success of the students as they grow in faith and knowledge.
